Marriage & Cohabitation Contracts
Thoughtful agreements made in calm seasons, protecting both partners for what may come.
Family Law
The weeks and months after a separation shape everything that follows. You deserve an ally who informs, steadies and protects you.

Working with Match Court Legal eases the weight. We offer a clear path forward, suited to your family's specific needs, and the resources for a thoughtful, knowledgeable approach.
It may feel overwhelming now. Our role is to ensure your voice is heard, and to offer options you may not yet know exist — so the solution you reach is one you can truly live with.
A Focus of Our Practice
Your experience deserves to be understood. Your next chapter deserves a different strategy.
Domestic violence, intimate partner violence and coercive control are a distinct area of specialization for Chantalle Sterne and a focus of our family law practice. We work with women whose relationships have involved fear, intimidation or control — including abuse that leaves no visible marks.
If you are divorcing someone you describe as a narcissist, a conventional approach to separation may not fit your circumstances. Our strategy responds to the behaviour and evidence, not a label or diagnosis. Where coercive control is present, we consider safety, communication, financial access and parenting together, with careful preparation and firm advocacy when needed.
In May 2026, the Supreme Court of Canada recognized a new civil claim for intimate partner violence in Ahluwalia v. Ahluwalia. This recognizes the harm caused by patterns of coercive and controlling conduct, not only individual acts of physical violence. Survivors may be able to request damages — monetary relief — where the legal requirements are met.
We can talk you through what this development could mean for your circumstances, the evidence needed and how a civil claim may fit alongside your family law matter. A damages award is not automatic; each claim depends on its facts and the applicable law.
